Become a Mentor
Help shape the next generation of CyberAI talent. TCN is looking for mentors who can support adult trainees as they explore, enter, or grow in CyberAI-related careers.
Whether you have time for a one-time coffee chat or a longer mentoring relationship, your experience can make a real difference. Even simple guidance about what it is like to work in the field or at a particular company can be incredibly helpful.
Thank You for Supporting TCN Trainees
Some of our trainees are career pivoters learning how their current experience relates to CyberAI. They may not go after the same role as their mentor, and that is completely okay. Your perspective still helps them better understand the field and where they may fit.
Quick Tip
Many prospective mentors do not realize that even answering questions about roles, companies, or day-to-day work in the field can be deeply valuable.
Need Flexibility?
We can support one-time conversations, longer commitments, one-on-one mentoring, or small-group formats. If your availability changes, just let us know.

OVERVIEW
What Does Mentoring Look Like?
Mentoring can take many forms. Some mentors choose a one-hour coffee chat, while others stay involved over six months, a year, or longer. We are flexible and work to match mentors with trainees who have similar availability and goals.
Mentors can also support trainees by reviewing resumes or CVs, recommending blogs, podcasts, or other resources, and answering questions about what the field is really like. Even when a trainee is not pursuing the exact same role as their mentor, that guidance can still be very useful.
What Mentors Can Help With
- Answering questions about roles, companies, and workplace culture
- Helping trainees connect their current experience to CyberAI opportunities
- Reviewing resumes, CVs, and other professional materials
- Sharing blogs, podcasts, newsletters, or other field resources
- Offering perspective on professional growth and navigating the industry
We Match Based on Preference and Fit
When you sign up, we will ask about your background, availability, areas of expertise, and whether you prefer one-on-one or small-group mentoring. We use that information, along with similar details from trainees, to make thoughtful matches.
Mentoring can be virtual or in person. Because virtual mentoring is possible, mentors can participate from all over the world. For in-person activities, we are currently prioritizing places where we already have partnerships, including Washington, California, Tennessee, and Texas.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common Questions from Prospective Mentors
How long is the commitment?
We are flexible. Mentoring can be a one-hour coffee chat, a short-term engagement, or a longer commitment over six months to a year or more. We aim to match mentors and trainees based on similar availability.
Are mentors working with adults or youth?
For this first round, mentors will be working with adults. If you are interested in mentoring youth, let us know. We may offer group-based mentoring opportunities for young people in the future.
Do mentors need a specific role or background?
No. We often engage software engineers, solutions architects, product managers, and other experienced professionals, but any role connected to CyberAI is of strong interest to us.
Does mentoring have to happen in person?
No. Mentoring can be virtual, so mentors can participate from anywhere. For in-person activities, we are currently prioritizing places where we already have partnerships, including Washington, California, Tennessee, and Texas.
What if I sign up for one format and later want to change?
That is okay. If you start with a one-time opportunity and want to stay involved longer, or if you need to step back from a longer commitment, just let us know and we will help make any needed changes.
What if a mentor match is not working well?
You will not have to manage that alone. Our staff can help troubleshoot, support a new match, or make other adjustments if needed.
