AN INITIATIVE LAUNCHING THIS 2026

Securing the Future through
Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence

TCN, BBR Academy, and partners are launching an ambitious initiative: Train 1,000 CyberAI Professionals in 24 Months using paid apprenticeships and hands-on work labs and real cyber defense centers. Join us in bridging the workforce gap and building a resilient digital future.

THE URGENT MOMENT

What is CyberAI?

Artificial Intelligence is transforming our economy and reshaping the cybersecurity landscape at unprecedented speed. The National Science Foundation defines CyberAI broadly as the use of AI in cybersecurity operations and the security and resilience of AI systems themselves.

As AI systems scale across healthcare, finance, infrastructure, defense, and education, we face a critical workforce gap. We do not have enough trained professionals who understand both cybersecurity and artificial intelligence; the threats are evolving faster than the workforce.

Our Program Was Inspired By Similar National Initiatives

"Since 2001, the CyberCorps®: Scholarship for Service (SFS) program has helped recruit, train and grow generations of cybersecurity professionals equipped to address the nation's new and evolving cyberthreats. Keeping pace with emerging technologies, CyberAI SFS will continue this longstanding tradition by supporting and growing an adaptive AI workforce."

— Sylvia Butterfield, Head of STEM Education at NSF

High-Impact
Careers

This 24-month effort will prepare individuals for careers that strengthen our technological foundations.

National Resilience

Building the talent required to strengthen national cybersecurity resilience against next-generation threats.

System Integrity

Ensuring AI system integrity and safety, preventing unauthorized manipulation of algorithmic operations.

Digital Infrastructure

Ensuring AI system integrity and safety, preventing unauthorized manipulation of algorithmic operations.

Ethical Deployment

Employer-Aligned
Pathways

Working alongside the workforce development boards, BBR Academy, and partners to build structured, repeatable tracks into technology.

Adult AI Upskilling

For current workers trying to pivot into AI and cybersecurity careers that lead to quality, living-wage jobs. Workers need clear pathways and real work experience that are more nimble than a traditional four-year degree alone.

  • Short-term credential programs aligned with hiring commitments.
  • Hybrid and multilingual delivery options for accessibility.
  • Targeting 70-85% credential attainment aligned with employer demand.

Youth & Early Career

We support WIOA program youth participants (ages 14-24) through AI and CyberAI career exposure workshops paired with project-based learning.

  • Solve real business problems, such as analyzing operational data or strengthening cybersecurity.
  • Sector-based career exploration in maritime, agritech, and cybersecurity.
  • Partnerships with culturally-aligned programming like The Breakfast Group's KEEP program.

Why TCN?

Founded in 2019 as a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Cooperative, TCN was built on one core belief: Connectivity is not just infrastructure—it is opportunity.

We believe meaningful connectivity happens when communities have both access to infrastructure and the skills to participate fully in today's economy.

We have built infrastructure. We have built trust. Now we are building the CyberAI workforce.

Proven Performance

Through our workforce development program, Connect Across Tacoma, we have delivered measurable results:

  • 170 community workshops reaching 3,500+ participants.
  • 105 community members trained to train others.
  • 45,000+ attendees reached through large-scale public events.

Why Your Support Matters
